Job description:  Are you looking to put your skills and experience to a new use? We need two skilled investigators to help us in our efforts to regulate those who provide immigration advice and services.

The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) is a non – departmental public body established to regulate the provision of immigration services and advice. It has a UK wide, statutory regulatory remit, currently regulating some 1,680 organisations, 1,594 premises and 4,061 advisers, ranging from small one-man bands to large providers.

The OISC:
- Regulates immigration advisers to ensure they are fit and competent and act in their client’s best interests;
- Promotes good practice by immigration advisers;
- Deals with complaints about immigration advisers; and
- Takes criminal proceedings, as necessary.

The OISC is independent of Government.

We are looking to add to our current team of investigators to work with caseworkers in collating information on illegal advisers, investigating allegations of unscrupulous activity and the prosecution of offenders.

You will also be able to play a key role in the development of the organisation and the continuing evolvement of the investigation team itself. You will need a sound knowledge of the criminal justice system and PACE, good interview and analytical skills with the initiative, drive and determination to see cases through from start to finish. Flexibility, enthusiasm and teamwork are critical in maintaining the team’s current outstanding achievements.

Candidates who demonstrate that they meet the selection criteria will be placed on a merit list, with the two candidates at the top of the list being offered the posts. If, within six months of candidates being notified that they are on the list, a post arises for another Complaints Investigation Officer within the OISC it will be offered in merit order to candidates on the list.
